When founding Ulterior Motive in 2006, the initiating force was frustration. There simply wasn't enough good designed products out there. Or maybe there was, but they were ... well, simply a bit boring. The ambition was - and still is - to offer something different as opposed to most of the accessories available today. To inspire you to dare cross the conservative line, break free and be a rebel without a pause.
Ulterior Motive is more rock than business. Hell, yes!
Ties are an important part of our product range. When it comes to ties, our philosophy is that you can wear a tie just about anytime. (Bet you didn't think you could). We believe the reason why (almost) nobody does this today is that the ties that you find in stores are either meant for business or dinner parties.
Our question is - why can't you wear a tie at the weekend barbeque?
The products we design today have the goal to carry a subtle edge, not to be in-your-face, but rather something you notice in the details. We would never put out a t-shirt with just our logo, but most likely a woven skull on the back lining of a tie.
